BITRI participated in the inaugural Botswana Innovation Hub (BIH) Innovation Vendor Day and Exhibition held at the site for the Science and Innovation Park on August 18, 2015. The Vendor Day is part of the national Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) commemoration month that seeks to build awareness and nurture interest in Science, Technology and Innovation, as well as encourage investment in research and development (R&D).  

BITRI was amongst organisations from the public and private sector managing stalls to sensitise students and graduates of the career opportunities and paths available in their respective organisations. BITRI’s main messages during the Vendor Day were targeted at sensitising the public on the organisational mandate as well as BITRI’s role in developing and nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship.  

The event, which was themed “Imagine, Create, Innovate” comprised exhibitions, panel discussions, pitch sessions and guided tours. Most of the attendants to the event were impressed with the idea pitches and product demonstrations at the event. The day also allowed for exhibition of innovations and networking among clients, stakeholders, entrepreneurs and companies to showcase some of their innovative services and products ready for commercialisation.
