BITRI installed 65 Seding Street Lights at Diphuduhudu

The Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi launched the Seding™ Street Lights at Diphuduhudu in the Letllhakeng Sub District on Monday 8th December 2014. BITRI installed sixty-five (65) Seding™ Street Lights, the solar-powered technology for street lights that employs environmentally friendly batteries and non-toxic diode based lights at Diphuduhudu. The Project was funded by the Office of the President under the Poverty Eradication Programme. Through the programme, The Office of the President has contributed two million Pula, which will be used to roll out the light in several other rural communities.

 

Similar projects spearheaded by BITRI are expected to be rolled out in the village and other areas. The event was attended by amongst others, Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr. Nonofo Molefhi, Assistant Minister of Presidential Affairs & Public Administration, Hon. Dikgang Makgalemele, Letlhakeng West MP Liakat Kablay, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), Hon. Botlogile Tshireletso, Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr. Unity Dow, Kgosi Binang of Diphuduhudu village, the BITRI Chief Executive Officer, Professor Nelson Torto and his team and members of the Diphuduhudu community.
