PUBLIC INVITATION: BITRI PUBLIC SEMINAR

The public is invited to the Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI) Public Seminar on Tuesday 7th March 2017 at Avani Hotel in Gaborone at 5:30 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Dr Reason Machete, Senior Researcher, Climate Change at BITRI. Dr Machete holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics and an MSc in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing, both from the University of Oxford. He also holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Botswana.

Dr Machete has held research positions at the London School of Economics and the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. He continues to hold a Visiting Fellow position at the London School of Economics. His seminar topic is “Can you hear me now? How cell phone towers help us measure rainfall.”

The BITRI Public Seminar Series aims to share and exchange research ideas on topics of current relevance to our mandate in contributing to Botswana’s socio-economic development.
