Dr Fred Mampadi is a computer scientist with a strong background in programming, research and software development. He has MSc in Distributed Interactive Systems from Lancaster University and a PhD in Computer Science from Brunel University in the United Kingdom. He was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Botswana prior to joining BITRI. He has conducted research on adaptive hypermedia systems that use certain characteristics such as cognitive styles, prior knowledge and affection in personalising content and navigation to individual users. He has taught courses and supervised students, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, in areas like Intelligent User Interfaces and Systems, Software Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Web Technologies and Applications and Multimedia Computing. At BITRI, he is tasked with initiating and driving research in ICT (mobile applications) as per the needs of Botswana; Managing the planning and Implementation of ICT projects (development of new technologies, and adaptation or enhancement of existing technologies).
