At BITRI Karabo is an Associate Researcher with a strong background in Computer Information Systems and Educational Technology. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree and M.Sc. in Computer Information Systems as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Botswana. Karabo is a Computer Information Systems Analyst and a qualified Computer Studies Teacher who has interest in combining the field of Computing Information Systems with Education, hence interest in research, innovation and development in educational technology. She has conducted research on transnational education in Botswana. Karabo did her M.Sc. thesis under the supervision of Dr Mampadi with the title “Framework that Incorporates Cross Cultural Conflict Caused by Nonverbal Gestures,” which was an education tool for tourists in Botswana.
Karabo has worked at Botho University for five years. During her period at university among others, her duties included being Team Leader for Human Computer Interaction Design and Computing final year projects, in collaboration with Open University as well as Teesside University. She has also been the assistant HOD for Projects and Professional Practice at the same institution. Ms Hamu has shortly worked at Boitekanelo College. She is also an active trained external verifier (ICT) and a project moderator (ICT) for Technical Vocational Education under Botswana Qualification Authority division in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development.
