Phatsimo Matshediso is a member of the Water filtration team that researches on filtration technologies intended to address the scarcity of potable water. The team intends on employing nanotechnology in its solutions.
Phatsimo recently represented Botswana in the USA in a global programme of young female scientist who have contributed to the fraternity of science. She previously worked for Department of Veterinary Services and moved through the ranks up to the level of Senior Scientific Officer. Her responsibilities entailed monitoring the safety of beef and beef products to ensure compliance with national and international standards. She developed, validated and accredited methods for analysis of veterinary drugs, environmental contaminants and hormones in accordance to ISO 17025 and EC 657 standards. Phatsimo’s prior research involved development of an environmentally friendly extraction technique of essential compounds from the family Moringaceae, which resulted in a patent application.
