Reason Machete holds a DPhil in Applied Mathematics and an MSc in Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing, both from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Botswana. Prior to joining BITRI, he held academic positions at Botswana International University of Science and Technology and the University of Botswana and research positions at the London School of Economics and the University of Reading. He continues to hold a Visiting Fellow position at the London School of Economics. In 2012, he was an invited speaker at a Royal Society meeting on “Handling uncertainty in weather and climate prediction with application to health, agronomy, hydrology, energy and economics”. His interests are wider than the above list. For instance, he has done work on macroeconomic forecasting and on the dynamics of heart rate variability.
