Building on the momentum of the two previous Forums, the South African Department of Science and Technology is excited to announce the next Forum where we will again Ignite Conversations about Science. The third Science Forum South Africa (SFSA2017) will be hosted during 7-8 December 2017, at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria.

Looking back on SFSA2016
The rich 2016 Forum programme of 36 vibrant discussions and almost 30 Science Talks attracted more than 2,000 participants from more than 60 countries. There was also almost 70 exhibitors from 24 countries. These numbers show a significant growth from SFSA2015, where there were over 1,500 participants, from 50 countries and only 46 exhibitors.

There were, in addition to the activities at the main venue, more than 20 side events held earlier in the week. Two Science on the Street events were held, where more than 2,000 school learners benefited from the outreach programme. The national and international media, as well as the social media coverage, also contributed to igniting more conversations about science. All these exciting conversations resulted in many future opportunities.
