A technical working group comprising the Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI), the University of Botswana (UB) and the Department of Research, Science and Technology (DRST) at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Science and Technology is working to establish the Botswana Academy of Sciences (BAS). The meeting will be held on 1st April 2015 at the Centre for Continuing Education at UB main campus.

The proposed organisation will represent science and scholarship in Botswana and is being established within the framework that science, scientific knowledge and scientific progress are vital to advance human welfare and development. The overall objective of the BAS is to promote and apply scientific knowledge in the service of society in Botswana.
