Wednesday 9th November – BITRI held its first Open Day today at Maranyane House. The aim of the open day was to engage with stakeholders and to showcase BITRI services and technologies.
BITRI Chief Executive Officer BITRI Chief Executive Officer, Professor Nelson Torto when giving the overview of BITRI and objectives of the Open Day said the event comes just a day BITRI held a public seminar addressed by Professor Seeram Ramakrishna from University of Singapore, who chronicled the development stages of Singapore as well as highlighting the importance the government placed on research and development. Prof Torto acknowledged the presence of high rankings representatives of some diplomatic missions in Botswana, executives of parastatals and private companies, and the general public and invited stakeholders to collaborate with BITRI on solutions that will make improve the lives of Batswana and the world.
The official opening ceremony was followed by exhibitions and a tour of the Centre for Material Science. ICTAssociate@BITRI’s program formed part of the exhibitions and the enrolees showcased some of the cutting-edge technology solutions. BITRI showcased progress on some of its projects, including the Morabaraba game now available on Playstore, Fleet Management Solution, Seding Light, KSBB, Tourism Application, TV Whitespace Project, Air Filtration, Diagnostic Kit Development, Water Filtration, and Climate Change.
